A stretched member of the 737 MAX family, the Boeing 737 MAX 9 is positioned as the successor to the 737-900ER. It seats about 178 passengers in two classes and up to 220 single-class, with two CFM LEAP-1B turbofans giving a range near 6,510 km at 842 km/h. First flown in 2017, the aircraft measures 42.2 metres long with a 35.9-metre wingspan and a maximum takeoff weight of 88,314 kg. In January 2024 a MAX 9 operated by Alaska Airlines lost a cabin door plug in flight, prompting a temporary grounding of the variant and intensified inspections of the type. It remains in production as the larger of Boeing's principal single-aisle models.

About Boeing 737 MAX 9
