Introduced as the New Engine Option upgrade of the A320, the A320neo pairs the proven single-aisle airframe with CFM LEAP-1A or Pratt & Whitney PW1127G geared turbofans to cut fuel burn by around 20 percent. Two-class seating is about 150, with up to 194 in a single-class layout, and range reaches roughly 6,300 km at a 828 km/h cruise. Since its 2014 first flight the type has drawn more than 9,000 orders, making the neo family the most successful commercial aircraft program by order volume. Measuring 37.6 metres long on a 35.8-metre wingspan with a maximum takeoff weight of 79,000 kg, it forms the core of modern short- and medium-haul fleets across the globe.
