Frequently Asked Questions
The Airbus A321neo typically seats 180 passengers in a two-class configuration. With the Airbus Cabin Flex option and a single-class high-density layout, it can carry up to 244 passengers. The A321neo has become the most popular variant in the neo family, accounting for the majority of new orders due to its versatile capacity.
The standard Airbus A321neo has a maximum range of approximately 7,400 km (4,000 nautical miles). The A321LR (Long Range) variant extends this to 7,400 km with three additional center fuel tanks, while the A321XLR (eXtra Long Range) pushes range to 8,700 km. These extended-range variants are enabling single-aisle transatlantic operations for the first time.
The A321neo is currently outselling the 737 MAX 10 by a significant margin. The A321neo seats about 180-220 passengers compared to the MAX 10's 188-204. The A321neo also has derivatives (LR and XLR) that can fly transatlantic routes, a capability the MAX 10 does not offer. The wider cabin of the A321neo (3.70 m vs 3.54 m) also provides more flexibility for premium cabin configurations.
The A321neo shares the stretched fuselage of the A321-200 but can be identified by its larger-diameter engine nacelles, just like the A320neo. It features four overwing emergency exits and sharklet wingtip devices as standard. Compared to the A320neo, the A321neo has a distinctly longer fuselage with extended cabin sections both forward and aft of the wing root.
The A321neo has become the dominant single-aisle aircraft order because it offers the lowest cost per seat of any narrowbody while maintaining excellent range. Airlines like IndiGo, United, and JetBlue have placed massive orders. The XLR variant is particularly revolutionary, enabling nonstop routes like Boston to London or Seoul to Mumbai in a fuel-efficient single-aisle aircraft, disrupting traditional wide-body economics.
