The Boeing 787-8 is the original model of the 787 Dreamliner and the first wide-body airliner built primarily from carbon-fibre composite. It seats about 242 passengers in two classes and up to 381 single-class, with two GEnx-1B70 turbofans supporting a range of roughly 13,621 km at 903 km/h. Its 2009 first flight introduced a 56.7-metre airframe with a 60.1-metre wing and a maximum takeoff weight near 228,000 kg. The composite fuselage allowed higher cabin pressure, larger windows, and greater humidity than aluminium airliners, changes aimed at reducing passenger fatigue on long flights. The -8 launched the Dreamliner family and its efficiency-focused approach to long, thin routes.
