The best-selling regional turboprop in production, the ATR 72-600 is a twin-engine, high-wing airliner from the Franco-Italian ATR consortium. It seats about 70 passengers, up to 78, using two Pratt & Whitney PW127XT engines for a cruise of 510 km/h and a range near 1,528 km. This variant first flew in 2009 and measures 27.2 metres long with a maximum takeoff weight of 23,000 kg. On short sectors the -600 burns roughly 40 percent less fuel than comparable regional jets, giving it the lowest seat-mile costs in the short-haul market and making it the standard choice for island and commuter networks worldwide.
